It looks like things are getting even more complicated following the attempted arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte. Honeylet Avanceña, Duterte’s common-law wife, is now being considered for direct assault charges after allegedly hitting a female police officer with her cellphone.

According to PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Jean Fajardo, the officer involved suffered a significant bump on the forehead but has already been discharged from the hospital. The legal wheels are now turning, and a case might be filed against Avanceña soon.

But that's not all—former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea might also be in hot water. He could face obstruction of justice charges for reportedly preventing police officers from approaching Duterte and escorting him to a bus bound for the airport.

With tensions running high, this situation is shaping up to be a legal battle to watch. Will charges actually be filed? And how will this affect Duterte and his circle?
