House Prosecutors Want Their Own 'HQ' In Senate For VP Duterte's Impeachment Trial

Looks like things are getting real for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. The House of Representatives is now asking for an office space inside the Senate building so their prosecution panel can set up shop and prepare for the upcoming legal battle.

In a letter dated March 5, House Secretary General Reginald “Reggie” Velasco formally requested Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero to provide a workspace for the House prosecutors and their support team. The idea? A dedicated area where they can plan, strategize, and get their case ready for the highly anticipated trial.

Velasco also asked if the prosecution team could check out the assigned room on March 11 to make sure it’s suitable for their needs. After all, they’ll be spending a lot of time there as they push forward with the case against VP Duterte.

The Senate received the request on March 6, and now it’s up to them to decide whether the House panel gets their own impeachment ‘war room.’ This move follows the transmittal of the Articles of Impeachment in February, setting the stage for what could be one of the most high-profile political trials in recent history.

Speaker Martin Romualdez, for his part, assured the Senate that the House is fully committed to ensuring a fair and constitutional process. He also emphasized the need for coordination between both chambers to keep things smooth and transparent.

With the House and Senate now gearing up for the proceedings, all eyes are on how this impeachment trial will unfold. Will the House prosecutors get their requested space? And more importantly, how will this trial play out? Stay tuned—this is just the beginning!
