Creamline Cool Smashers are on a mission—and that mission is to extend their volleyball dynasty with an unprecedented five-peat in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference. But for every team chasing greatness, there’s always a star leading the way. Enter Jema Galanza, who proved once again why she’s one of the best in the business.

Galanza was unstoppable on Tuesday night, delivering an all-around masterclass with 24 points, 17 excellent receptions, and nine excellent digs to power the Cool Smashers to a thrilling 25-22, 25-20, 30-32, 25-20 victory over their sister team, Choco Mucho Flying Titans. The electric showdown drew a massive crowd of 9,551 fans at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, all eager to see the Rebisco sisters in action.

The former MVP was everywhere—smashing 22 attacks, scoring off a block, and landing a perfectly timed ace. With Galanza at the helm, Creamline extended their dominance over Choco Mucho to a lopsided 16-1 record since their first face-off in 2019.

After her outstanding performance, Galanza was a no-brainer pick for the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week presented by Pilipinas Live, edging out stars like Julia Coronel, Vanie Gandler, Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, Cess Robles, and Jen Nierva. But the Cool Smashers’ star knows the work is far from over.

“I just had to remind myself to stay locked in for this game,” Galanza shared in Filipino. “It’s still early in the season, so this isn’t the time to think that I played perfectly or flawlessly. There’s so much more to come, and for sure, our opponents will adjust.”

As Creamline stays unbeaten at 3-0—right behind league leaders Cignal (4-0)—Galanza remains grounded, acknowledging that every team is coming for them, eager to take down the reigning grand slam champions. Still, her steady presence has become a cornerstone for Creamline, especially as she celebrates her seventh year with the squad.

“I’m just really happy to be playing with Creamline. It feels like family here. I’ve been with them for so long—seven years now. This is my comfort zone,” Galanza added.

Up next, the Cool Smashers aim to cap off 2024 with another win as they face the surging Zus Coffee Thunderbelles on Thursday, December 12, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

With Jema Galanza playing at her absolute best and Creamline locked in on their historic goal, one thing’s clear: the Cool Smashers aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
