Justin Brownlee came through in a big way once again, leading Barangay Ginebra to a hard-fought 99-94 win over San Miguel Beer in Game 3 of their PBA Governors' Cup semifinals clash. With the victory at the Dasmariñas City Arena, Ginebra regained the upper hand in the best-of-seven series, now up 2-1.

Brownlee was unstoppable, filling up the stat sheet with 30 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five blocked shots, earning praise from head coach Tim Cone. “We had some shaky moments, especially in the third quarter, but thanks to this guy here [Brownlee], we bounced back. He was huge for us,” Cone said, emphasizing how critical Brownlee's clutch play was in both offense and defense.

The victory wasn't just Brownlee's doing though—Japeth Aguilar contributed 22 points and eight rebounds, while Maverick Ahanmisi added 15 points and 11 boards. Stephen Holt also chipped in with 11 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, giving Ginebra a well-rounded effort.

But it was RJ Abarrientos and Scottie Thompson who helped spark a key comeback. Abarrientos fueled a rally that erased a seven-point deficit and flipped the game, giving Ginebra a 76-72 lead heading into the final quarter. Thompson was a beast on the boards, grabbing five of his eight rebounds in the last period, two of which kept Ginebra's 97-90 lead intact when things were getting dicey.

San Miguel's EJ Anosike kept the Beermen in the game with a monster 32-point, 10-rebound effort, including a clutch four-point play that brought them within 94-97 late. But Ahanmisi calmly sank two free throws in the final seconds, sealing the win for Ginebra.

For the Beermen, CJ Perez and Marcio Lassiter combined for 25 points, but it was a far cry from their Game 2 heroics. June Mar Fajardo was limited to just 12 points, and while he pulled down 14 rebounds, his five turnovers proved costly, contributing to San Miguel’s 12 giveaways that Ginebra capitalized on.

“We played real playoff defense tonight, and that was the key,” Cone said, happy with how his team clamped down on San Miguel when it mattered most.

The series now shifts back to the Smart Araneta Coliseum for Game 4, where Ginebra will look to take a commanding 3-1 lead on Wednesday.
