If you're living or working in the United States, this one’s for you. The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C., along with its Consulates General, is stepping up to make sure all Filipinos in the US are informed, safe, and supported—regardless of immigration status. Yes, you heard that right: everyone.

They've shared an important reminder: you have rights.

Here’s a quick rundown of what you’re entitled to as a migrant worker in the US:

As a Worker:

• Get paid at least the minimum wage for all the hours you’ve worked.
• Receive your pay on time.
• Work in a safe environment.
• Be treated fairly—no discrimination or harassment allowed.
• Join or form a union if you want to.
• Question your employer about pay or workplace practices.
• File complaints without the fear of being retaliated against.

During Encounters with Law Enforcement:

• You can remain silent.
• Refuse consent to searches (yourself, your car, or your home).
• Speak to an attorney before answering any questions.
• Decline signing anything you don’t understand.
And remember, if things get tricky, you can always call the Philippine Embassy or Consulate General for help. Their consular services are for everyone—yes, everyone—regardless of your immigration status.

24/7 Hotlines for Emergencies:

• Washington, D.C.: 202-368-2767
• Agana (Guam): 671-488-4630
• Chicago: 312-810-3019
• Honolulu: 808-253-9446

• Los Angeles: 323-528-1528
• New York: 917-294-0196
• San Francisco: 415-269-2090

The Embassy wants you to know: you’re never alone. Whether it’s a workplace issue, an immigration concern, or just needing a helping hand, they’re just a call away. So, Kabayan, keep this guide handy, spread the word, and always remember— you have rights!
