New Leadership, New Goals

Stepping in as the head coach is Rafa Merino Rodriguez, a seasoned mentor with a UEFA Pro License and a wealth of experience from managing top-tier futsal clubs in Spain. His mission? To mold this team into a competitive force ready to tackle the best in Asia and beyond.

“I’m honored to lead this talented group of women. Our focus is clear – to excel in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers and make our mark,” Coach Merino shared with enthusiasm.

The Road Ahead

The qualifiers will see teams divided into groups, battling it out in a centralized league format. The top teams will advance to the finals in China, with the best earning a coveted spot in the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup – a monumental event that the Philippines is proud to host from November 21 to December 7, 2025.

PFF President John Gutierrez expressed his optimism: “This is a pivotal moment for Philippine futsal. We’ve built a strong team under Coach Merino’s leadership, and I’m confident they’ll make us proud.”
