In an exciting move towards inclusive tourism, the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malay, in collaboration with Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR) and various Halal and Muslim stakeholders, proudly unveiled *Marhaba Boracay* on September 10. This one-of-a-kind Muslim-friendly cove, located in Boracay's stunning Newcoast area, is set to become a haven for Muslim travelers and families seeking a more tailored beach experience.

Inspired by popular Muslim-friendly destinations like the Maldives and Thailand, Marhaba Boracay is designed with Islamic principles in mind, offering a space where Muslim tourists can relax and enjoy their vacation with comfort and ease. The initiative is part of a larger push by the DOT under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration to promote Halal and Muslim-friendly tourism across the Philippines.

During the grand ribbon-cutting ceremony, DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco joined hands with Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista and an array of distinguished guests, including ambassadors from Malaysia and Brunei, and leaders from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), to officially launch the landmark project.

The opening of Marhaba Boracay couldn't have come at a better time as the Philippines has been recognized as an *Emerging Muslim-friendly Destination* in the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) for both 2023 and 2024. This accolade further solidifies the country's commitment to catering to the needs of Muslim travelers.

Alongside DOT officials, including Undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano and Region 6 Director Krisma Rodriguez, members of the Boracay Muslim Community, and Halal tourism advocates were present to celebrate this milestone. With the continued support of hospitality partners like Megaworld, Marhaba Boracay is poised to attract more Muslim tourists to the island paradise, making Boracay an even more diverse and inclusive destination.

Whether you're traveling for relaxation or adventure, Marhaba Boracay is ready to welcome Muslim travelers with open arms—and the breathtaking scenery the island is known for.
