After over a decade of waiting, hoping, and tireless diplomatic efforts, Mary Jane Veloso is finally coming home.

In an official statement, Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin expressed the Philippine government’s deep gratitude to the Republic of Indonesia for making this long-awaited moment possible.

"Her homecoming is the fruit of more than a decade of persistent discussions, consultations, and diplomacy,” Bersamin shared.

For those unfamiliar, Mary Jane Veloso's case has been a deeply emotional and symbolic story for many Filipinos. Her plight, which began in 2010, sparked national and international attention, as well as continuous calls for her return. Now, after years of unwavering efforts and negotiations, the day has finally come.

“Duty-bound as we are to honor the conditions for her transfer to Philippine jurisdiction, we are truly elated to welcome Mary Jane back to her homeland and family, from whom she has been distanced for too long,” Bersamin added.

The statement reflects not only relief but also the collective joy of a nation that has stood behind Mary Jane and her family throughout this long and challenging journey. Her homecoming is more than just her return—it's a reminder of what persistence, hope, and diplomacy can achieve.

As Mary Jane Veloso reunites with her loved ones, the Philippines celebrates alongside her, proving that sometimes, hope truly does come home.
