Meet The New Bishop Of Daet: Fr. Herman Abcede Steps Up To Lead The Diocese
Big news for the Diocese of Daet. Pope Francis has just named Fr. Herman Abcede, a Rogationist missionary, as the new bishop of the diocese. He’s stepping into the role following Archbishop Rex Andrew Alarcon’s transfer to the Archdiocese of Caceres earlier in 2024.

Fr. Abcede isn’t new to leadership. Currently, he’s the superior of the Community of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Parañaque City. But his experience goes far beyond that—he’s served as the provincial of the Rogationists in Asia and the Pacific, and he’s a well-respected canon lawyer with credentials from the Lateran Pontifical University in Rome.

His deep involvement in church law has also led him to key roles, such as Defender of the Bond for the Archdiocese of Manila and the Diocese of Parañaque, as well as a judge for the Ecclesiastical Court of First Instance in Parañaque.

Now, as the fourth bishop of the Diocese of Daet, Fr. Abcede will oversee parishes across Camarines Norte. With his wealth of experience and dedication to his mission, he’s sure to bring wisdom and strong leadership to the faithful in the region.
