The duality of man explores the inherent conflicts within human nature, often highlighting the struggle between opposing forces such as good and evil, reason and passion, or civilized behavior and primal instincts.

This concept finds profound expression in the psychological theories of Sigmund Freud, who posited that the human psyche is composed of three distinct but interacting parts: the id, ego, and superego.

From early childhood, individuals develop these components, with the id representing innate, instinctual desires, the ego emerging to mediate between the id and reality, and the superego forming to internalize societal norms and moral values.

As men mature, the complex interplay between these elements shapes their behavior, personality, and the ongoing tension between their base impulses and higher ideals.

It brings to mind an argument in 2023 when the issue of menstrual leave for women was being argued by Dr. Tony Leachon and Atty. Jesus Falcis.

Atty Falcis somehow reacted to a (now deleted) post by Dr Leachon about the subject. “Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea all have menstrual leaves.

Dysmenorrhea is actually the medical and rational basis for a menstrual leave - the pain is so severe that the person cannot work productively. I'm not a doctor but I support a menstrual leave,” Falcis said.

A year later though, both teamed up to go against Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc.

Advocates Philippines has been following the Bell Kenz story for the past two years as we discovered an internal conflict within the pharmaceutical industry.

The tweet of Atty Falcis on X is still up where he is accusing Bell-Kenz of providing doctors with expensive gifts in exchange for prescription among patients.

Dr. Leachon has deleted his post on it or maybe put it in private mode? In any case, Bell-Kenz has filed a libel case against Leachon after the doctor said the local pharmaceutical company is actively engaging in a pyramid scheme.

The company is now protecting itself and going through legal avenues as they are also being investigated by lawmakers especially in the Senate.

The paradox of their united opinion is how they have also unverified information. From the tweets of Atty Falcis, whoever his source is, it seems that their documentation came from private investigators that specifically target doctors that are part of Bell-Kenz.

Their interest in going after Bell-Kenz is still questionable given their political ideologies were different for the past years especially during the Duterte administration.

Dr Leachon was a consultant of the National Task Force on Covid 19 while Atty Falcis was a staunch Duterte critic.

Their intentions in going after Bell-Kenz may have been coincidental but it looks like their interests in protecting big pharmaceutical companies are now put into the spotlight as well.
