Mike Tyson's Last Stand: Jake Paul Fight Draws Mixed Reactions

Mike Tyson’s post-fight message has us all reflecting on a legendary career.

The boxing world witnessed something truly emotional as Mike Tyson, 58, stepped into the ring for what might be his last hurrah, facing off against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in front of a packed Dallas Cowboys Stadium. While Tyson didn’t walk away with a win, his heartfelt Instagram post reminded everyone why he’s the legend we’ll always admire.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” Tyson wrote. “I almost died in June… lost half my blood, had 8 transfusions, and dropped 25 pounds in the hospital. To stand toe-to-toe for 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age, in front of my kids, is an experience no man has the right to ask for.”

Despite the love Tyson poured into the fight, reactions have been a mixed bag. Fans praised his resilience, but others couldn’t help but feel uneasy watching their once-unbeatable champ struggling.

Magic Johnson took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his disappointment:
"Just sad smh. I cut it off because I couldn’t watch anymore. This fight tonight was not great for boxing."

Tony Bellew clapped back at Logan Paul, Jake’s brother, for his disrespectful post-fight comments:
"Why be so disrespectful, Logan? Saying you’d ‘kill’ a grandfather is tough, isn’t it? I pray Mike stays safe."

Even Evander Holyfield, who knows Tyson better than most, noticed something was off:
"You could tell something was wrong with his leg. His balance was off."

Meanwhile, boxing champ Terence Crawford wasn’t pulling any punches:
"I love Mike Tyson, but they’re giving him too much credit. Training that long and only throwing 97 punches is crazy. I’m just glad he didn’t get hurt out there."

While opinions vary, Tyson’s comeback wasn’t just about boxing. It was a personal victory for a man who overcame near-death, proving his warrior spirit once again. And for that, Iron Mike, we’re grateful.
