P500 Monthly Increase For Kasambahays In NCR: Here's What You Need To Know!

Starting January 4, 2025, kasambahays (household helpers) in the National Capital Region (NCR) will see a boost in their monthly wages, thanks to the newly approved Wage Order No. NCR-DW-05.

This means a P500 increase for kasambahays, bumping their minimum monthly wage from P6,500 to P7,000. It’s a big step towards better pay for the hardworking individuals who keep households running smoothly.

What Does This Mean for Employers and Kasambahays?

The pay raise reflects the government’s acknowledgment of their contributions and the rising cost of living. For employers, it’s a chance to ensure their helpers are compensated fairly, creating a more positive working relationship at home.
Why the Increase?

This adjustment is part of the government’s effort to keep wages fair and competitive. The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) approved the order, recognizing the essential role of domestic workers in Filipino households.

What About Other Regions?

NCR isn’t the only area with wage updates. In Northern Mindanao, kasambahays will get a P1,000 monthly increase, while private sector workers in the region will also see wage bumps, with rates going up to P461 per day for both agriculture and non-agriculture sectors.

When Does It Take Effect?
• NCR wage increase: Effective January 4, 2025
• Northern Mindanao wage increase: Effective January 12, 2025

More Wage Increases Across the Country

In 2024 alone, wage boards nationwide rolled out increases across 14 regions, benefiting nearly 5 million minimum wage earners and over 700,000 domestic workers. The increases range from P21 to P75 daily for private sector workers and P500 to P1,100 monthly for kasambahays.

A Fairer Future for Workers

The NWPC is also working to simplify wage structures and promote productivity programs. This includes gain-sharing schemes for workers, especially in lower productivity areas, aiming for sustainable wage growth in the long term.

What’s Next?

For employers in calamity-hit areas, there’s an exemption mechanism for businesses that can’t comply immediately. You can visit the NWPC’s website or Facebook page for more details.

This wage hike isn’t just about numbers—it’s about valuing the people who support our households and industries every day. Whether you’re a kasambahay or an employer, this move highlights the importance of fairness and partnership in every home and workplace.
