In a strong and straightforward statement, Congressman Paolo Z. Duterte made it clear—he’s ready to face any investigation, as long as it’s fair, impartial, and rooted in credible evidence.

"I welcome any investigation to be conducted by an impartial and credible body, as I have nothing to hide," he emphasized.

Amid allegations and controversies surrounding the fight against illegal drugs, Duterte didn’t hold back in addressing the issue. He firmly questioned the credibility of witness testimonies, particularly those coming from Jimmy Guban, a convicted felon allegedly receiving furloughs through the witness protection program.

“These testimonies lack credibility and only undermine the integrity of any legitimate inquiry,” Duterte said, highlighting the importance of focusing on facts, not hearsay.

The congressman went a step further, calling on Congress to widen its lens. For him, any real fight against illegal drugs must include looking into names listed on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) watchlist during his father’s administration.

“This includes scrutinizing their own members, especially those whose family members have been implicated in drug activities,” he added, pointing out the need for accountability without “selective justice and political grandstanding.”

Duterte also shared that he’s already taking legal action, having filed perjury charges against Guban, the source of these accusations. “This is just the first step,” he said, in his efforts to clear his name and hold accountable those spreading “fabricated stories.”

As his statement concluded, the congressman reiterated his call for sincerity and fairness in the fight against illegal drugs:

“Let us not be distracted by politically motivated accusations or unreliable testimonies. Let the facts speak, and let justice prevail.”

For Duterte, this fight goes beyond politics—it’s about truth, accountability, and what’s best for the country.
