In a recent announcement from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), it was revealed that Paul Mercado, the Undersecretary for Special Concerns at the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), will step in as Officer-in-Charge of the agency. This move follows the resignation of DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy, marking a significant shift in leadership.

PCO Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed the update on Monday, March 10, reassuring the public that Mercado, with his wealth of experience, will continue to drive the agency’s initiatives forward during this transitional period. Mercado’s appointment comes at a crucial time for the DICT, as the agency plays a pivotal role in the country’s ongoing efforts to improve digital infrastructure and online governance.

As the country adjusts to this new leadership change, all eyes will be on Mercado as he leads the DICT toward new digital innovations and keeps the momentum going for the agency's vital projects.
