Pope Francis Spends Another Calm Night In Hospital; Continues Treatment For Pneumonia

Pope Francis is still on the road to recovery, spending another restful night at Rome's Gemelli Hospital as he continues treatment for bilateral pneumonia. According to the Holy See Press Office on Friday morning, the Pope’s night passed calmly, just like in previous days.

After waking up, the 87-year-old Pontiff had breakfast and spent some time reading the newspapers—his usual morning routine. He remains under treatment and continues with his breathing physiotherapy.

While Pope Francis focuses on his health, the Vatican announced that Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, Major Penitentiary of the Apostolic Penitentiary, will take his place for the traditional Ash Wednesday liturgy on March 5 at the Aventine.

The latest medical update on Thursday evening noted that while the Pope’s condition is improving, it remains "complex." His doctors are still closely monitoring him, alternating between high-flow oxygen therapy and a Ventimask. They emphasize that more days of clinical stability are needed to get a clearer picture of his prognosis.

Despite his health challenges, Pope Francis remains spiritually active. On Thursday afternoon, he spent time in prayer in the chapel of his hospital apartment and received the Eucharist. He also managed to handle some work-related activities.

For now, the Pope continues to rest, recover, and keep up with his usual routines as the world prays for his full recovery.
