As of 2:00 PM on 23 July 2024, the latest data from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) provides a clear picture of the power situation for this coming Friday, 26 July 2024.

After the recent devastation caused by Super Typhoon Carina, many are understandably concerned about the stability of the power supply across the country. Here's what you need to know.

For Luzon, the available generating capacity stands at 13,860 MW, with a system peak demand of 11,880 MW. This results in a comfortable operating margin of 1,980 MW, indicating that Luzon is in a relatively stable position despite the recent weather challenges.

In the Visayas, the available generating capacity is 2,343 MW, while the system peak demand is 2,106 MW. This leaves an operating margin of 237 MW. Though smaller than Luzon's, this margin suggests that the Visayas can meet its energy needs without significant risk of shortages.

Mindanao shows an available generating capacity of 3,083 MW, with a system peak demand of 2,256 MW. This results in an operating margin of 827 MW, indicating a robust supply cushion for the region.

The NGCP's efforts in maintaining and restoring power after such a significant natural disaster highlight the importance of preparedness and robust infrastructure.
