President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has commended the Super Health Center (SHC) initiative, aimed at bringing essential medical services closer to Filipinos. During his State of the Nation Address, he emphasized the collaboration between the Department of Health and local government units in establishing these centers.

“Katuwang din natin ang lokal na pamahalaan sa mga tinatayo nating mga tawag na ‘Super Health Centers.’ Sa tulong ng mga LGUs, malalagyan natin ng sapat na mga doktor at nars ang mga ito, at madadagdagan pa natin sa mga susunod na taon,” President Marcos said.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, is a staunch advocate of SHCs. In February, he attended the groundbreaking of a Super Health Center in Lemery, Iloilo, a project he has fervently supported.

The Super Health Centers are designed to offer comprehensive medical services, including database management, outpatient care, birthing, isolation, diagnostic services, pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical units. Additional services such as EENT care, oncology centers, physical therapy, rehabilitation centers, and telemedicine will be available, reducing the burden on major hospitals and improving healthcare access.

In Iloilo, 27 Super Health Centers are funded, thanks to Go’s efforts, which also include the establishment of Malasakit Centers in the region. These centers, institutionalized through Republic Act No. 11463, provide one-stop assistance to indigent patients by collaborating with various government agencies.

By prioritizing healthcare access and supporting the construction of multipurpose buildings, roads, and flood control systems, Senator Go continues to play a pivotal role in uplifting the nation’s health infrastructure.
