Pulong Duterte Slams VP Sara's Impeachment Moves: 'A Reckless Abuse Of Power'

Davao City Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte is not holding back. In a fiery statement, he called out the impeachment moves against Vice President Sara Duterte as nothing more than a politically driven witch hunt. And he's not mincing words.

“I am appalled and enraged by the desperate and politically motivated efforts to railroad the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte,” Pulong declared, taking direct aim at Rep. Janette Garin and her allies for allegedly orchestrating the move.

‘A Greater Storm is Coming’

For Pulong, this isn’t just about VP Sara. He sees it as a bigger attack on democracy and a dangerous precedent for the current administration.

He warned that if the government was unbothered by the recent massive Iglesia Ni Cristo rally, they are blindly walking into an even greater political storm—one that could shake the foundation of their rule.

“The Filipino people will not sit idly by as this government undermines democracy and silences opposition through fabricated accusations,” he stressed.

And he didn’t stop there. Pulong made it clear that any attempt to push this impeachment without consequence is a miscalculation.

“This reckless abuse of power will not end in their favor,” he declared.

Bato: “I've Been Expecting That to Happen”

Meanwhile, Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa wasn’t exactly surprised by the House of Representatives’ impeachment move against VP Sara.

"Inasahan ko na 'yan," he admitted, but insisted that he would remain "neutral" if the trial reaches the Senate.

“I’m not denying that I am identified with the Dutertes, but then again, my decision will be made once I have studied the articles of impeachment at saka yung takbo ng trial.”

‘Ang Daya Nila’—Bato on the Impeachment Timing

However, Dela Rosa had strong words about the timing of the impeachment, calling it unfair, especially with the 2025 elections on the horizon.

“Ang daya nila 'no? Gagawin nila kaming hostage dito pagka magiging judge [kami] ng impeachment court tapos sila mangangampanya na,” he said, expressing concern over how the proceedings could affect the upcoming campaign season.

What’s Next?

With tensions rising and political lines being drawn, one thing is clear—this impeachment fight is far from over. Pulong Duterte has made his stance loud and clear: the battle is just beginning.
