Republic Gas Corporation (REGASCO), led by its President and former Congressman Arnel Ty, has strengthened its commitment to consumer safety and quality standards by supporting the Department of Energy’s (DOE) “Goodbye Generic, Hello Branded” campaign.

Unveiled during the Energy Month Celebration, the initiative highlights the importance of phasing out generic and expired LPG cylinders by December 31, 2025, in compliance with the LPG Industry Regulation Act (RA 11592).

The event was attended by prominent leaders in the LPG industry, including Mercedita Pastrana, Executive Director of the LPG Industry Association (LPGIA); Giovanni Carlo Bacordo, DOE Undersecretary; Rowena Cristina L. Guevara, DOE Undersecretary; Rino E. Abad, Director IV of the Oil Industry Management Bureau (OIMB); and Rodela I. Romero, Director III of the OIMB.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ty underscored the importance of the campaign. “The DOE’s ‘Goodbye Generic, Hello Branded’ initiative is a groundbreaking effort to protect the lives and safety of Filipino families. This campaign ensures that only high-quality, certified LPG products reach the market, aligning perfectly with REGASCO’s core values and mission.”

REGASCO’s slogan, “Batang REGASCO: Matira, Matibay,” served as a rallying cry for its ongoing efforts to provide durable and reliable LPG solutions. “At REGASCO, we take pride in leading the way for the industry, ensuring that our products uphold the highest safety standards. This is not just about compliance—it’s about giving consumers peace of mind,” Ty emphasized.

The campaign also highlights the DOE’s enforcement of stricter regulations, including intensified law enforcement operations against illegal LPG retailers and distributors. “The removal of generic and expired cylinders is a necessary step to professionalize the LPG industry and eliminate substandard practices. REGASCO stands fully behind the DOE and OIMB in this endeavor,” Ty added.

With the support of key industry stakeholders and government leaders, the campaign seeks to promote public awareness about the benefits of branded LPG products. REGASCO’s initiatives, including cylinder replacement programs, demonstrate its leadership in driving compliance and consumer education.

“This partnership between REGASCO and the DOE is a testament to what can be achieved when the private sector and government work hand in hand. Together, we are building a safer, more accountable LPG industry for the benefit of all Filipinos,” Ty concluded.
