Sen. Bong Go Stands By Duterte Amid ICC Arrest Warrant; Appeals For His Health

Senator Bong Go isn’t holding back—he’s standing firm against the International Criminal Court (ICC) and calling it out for what he sees as an attack on the Philippines’ sovereignty. Following the issuance of an arrest warrant, Go reiterated his long-standing stance: the ICC has no business interfering in the country’s affairs.

“We’re not even a member of the ICC anymore,” he pointed out, adding that the Philippines’ justice system is fully operational. Investigations have already been conducted by both the Executive and Congress, and cases have been filed in local courts.

And when it comes to former President Rodrigo Duterte, Go made one thing clear: “Handa siyang harapin ang anumang kaso laban sa kanya, basta kapwa Pilipino ang maghuhusga sa kanya.” For now, the former president’s legal team is preparing to take the matter to the Supreme Court.

But beyond the legal battle, Go is deeply concerned about Duterte’s health. With the former president turning 80 in just a few days, Go revealed that he has been dealing with multiple health issues. In fact, Duterte was supposed to be admitted to the hospital on March 12, and as of 3 PM today, his glucose levels spiked—prompting his doctor to advise immediate hospitalization to prevent acute diabetes complications.

Go made an emotional appeal to authorities, urging them to prioritize Duterte’s well-being. “Pangalagaan natin ang kanyang kalusugan at ipagdasal natin ang kanyang kaligtasan,” he said, reminding everyone that access to medical care is a constitutional right.

The senator also took a moment to reflect on Duterte’s war on drugs, saying it was the Filipino people who truly knew whether they felt safer under his leadership. “Ang mga kababayan natin ang dapat humusga,” Go emphasized.
