Senate Gears Up For VP Sara Duterte's Impeachment Trial - Here's What's Happening
The Senate is making big moves as it prepares for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. Senate Secretary Renato Bantug, Jr. recently walked House Secretary General Reginald Velasco through the preparations, ensuring that everything is set for the highly anticipated proceedings.

Bantug took Velasco on a tour of the Senate, showing him the designated holding area for the House Prosecution Panel and Secretariat Support. But the main highlight? A sneak peek at the Senate Session Hall, where the trial will take place. According to Bantug, the setup mirrors the one used during the 2012 impeachment trial of the late Chief Justice Renato Corona.

“Upon the request of the House, they wanted to see the preparation that the Senate is undertaking for the impeachment trial,” Bantug explained on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. “Pinakita ko muna kay Sec. Gen yung set-up dito sa session hall, which is actually the set-up that was also implemented during the last impeachment trial of the late former Chief Justice Renato Corona.”

With this level of preparation, it’s clear that the Senate is making sure everything runs smoothly when the trial kicks off. The question now is: How will this unfold in the coming weeks? Stay tuned.
