Former Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV has filed a plunder case against former President Rodrigo “Digong” Roa Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go. The complaint pertains to the allegedly irregular awarding of 184 government projects worth P6.6 billion to companies linked to Bong Go’s father and brother from 2007 to 2018.

In the complaint-affidavit filed today, Trillanes said that Duterte, during his tenure as Davao City Mayor, Vice Mayor, and President, facilitated the awarding of these projects to firms associated with the Go family. Trillanes, a taxpayer and resident of the Philippines, contends that these transactions indicate a serious misuse of public funds, warranting the plunder charge.

Respondent Duterte, who has served as the 16th President of the Philippines and previously as a congressman and city mayor, is identified in the affidavit as being of legal age and residing at 458 Taal Road, Central Park Subdivision, Bangkal, Davao City, Davao Del Sur 1500. The affidavit details that he can be served with legal documents at this address.

This development marks another chapter in the contentious relationship between Trillanes and Duterte, with Trillanes frequently criticizing Duterte’s administration during and after his presidency. The outcome of this case could have significant political implications, adding to the ongoing debates over governance and accountability in the Philippines.
