It was a shaky start to the day for southern Taiwan as a magnitude 6.0 earthquake rocked the area just after midnight on January 21. Centered about 12 kilometers north of Yujing, this tremor definitely made its presence felt, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake's depth was recorded at 10 kilometers, enough to cause a jolt that left residents scrambling for safety. Unfortunately, at least 27 people sustained injuries, and reports of landslides and damaged homes are already coming in.

While the region is no stranger to seismic activity, the suddenness and strength of the quake were enough to shake up the community. Emergency services are on high alert, assessing damage and providing aid to those affected. As the dust settles, the resilient spirit of the locals shines through, determined to rebuild and recover.

For now, the focus remains on ensuring everyone's safety and addressing immediate concerns. Our thoughts are with those impacted, as they navigate the aftermath of this unexpected jolt.
