Supreme Court Calls Out Fake News On Alleged Marcos Resignation Petition
Supreme Court
Looks like misinformation is making the rounds again. The Supreme Court has stepped in to shut down social media posts claiming that a petition with 16 million signatures calling for President Marcos’ resignation had reached the High Court.

According to Supreme Court Spokesperson Atty. Camille Sue Mae L. Ting, the circulating document—dated March 16, 2025—is completely fabricated and was never issued by the Supreme Court. The false claims were reportedly shared by Facebook accounts named "Choose Libungan" and "Bernard Flores Maicon."

To set the record straight, the Supreme Court has not received any such petition and is not holding an En Banc session today, March 17, 2025, to discuss this matter.

This isn’t the first time false information has spread. Just last week, on March 11, 2025, similar fake reports alleged that the Supreme Court had issued a temporary restraining order, which also turned out to be completely untrue.

The Supreme Court is now taking action against these incidents of disinformation and will investigate those responsible. It’s a clear warning that spreading false claims won’t be taken lightly.

For the public, the message is simple: Don’t fall for fake news! Always check official sources before sharing any posts. The Supreme Court’s official website (sc.judiciary.gov.ph) and verified social media pages are the only places to get accurate information.
