Singapore Airlines Flight SQ321, en-route from London (Heathrow) to Singapore, was abruptly interrupted by severe turbulence on May 20, 2024. The unexpected turbulence forced the aircraft to divert its course to Bangkok, where it landed at 3:45 pm local time on May 21, 2024.

One passenger died and several others sustained injuries aboard the Boeing 777-300ER. With a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew members on board, the incident has deeply shaken both the airline and the global aviation community.

In response to the distressing turn of events, Singapore Airlines swiftly mobilized its resources to address the situation. CEO Mr. Goh Choon Phong conveyed his condolences to the family of the deceased and assured that paramount importance is being given to extend support to the affected passengers and crew.

"We are deeply saddened by this incident," Mr. Goh Choon Phong expressed in a video message, "and are committed to providing all necessary support and assistance to the passengers and crew members who were on board SQ321, as well as their families and loved ones."

Efforts to aid those affected by the turbulence incident have been multi-faceted. A relief flight, accommodating 143 passengers and crew members able to continue their journey, touched down in Singapore at 5:05 am the following day. However, 79 passengers and six crew members remain in Bangkok, including individuals receiving medical attention and their accompanying family members.

Singapore Airlines has been actively engaged with local authorities in Thailand to ensure the provision of essential medical assistance. Furthermore, a dedicated team has been dispatched to Bangkok to extend additional support as required.

For concerned relatives seeking information about their loved ones, Singapore Airlines has established hotlines accessible at +65 6542 3311 (Singapore), 1800-845-313 (Australia), and 080-0066-8194 (the United Kingdom).
