Bad news for Spurs fans: Victor Wembanyama’s season is officially over.

The San Antonio Spurs just announced that their star rookie, fresh off an incredible All-Star weekend, will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder.

The team shared that the condition was found after Wembanyama returned home from his first All-Star experience in San Francisco, where he dazzled fans by participating in the Skills Challenge and playing in the All-Star Game with Team Chuck.

It’s a tough blow for the 21-year-old French sensation, who has been absolutely dominant this season. In 46 games, Wemby’s been averaging 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and leading the league with 3.8 blocks per game. He’s also firmly in the running for Defensive Player of the Year.

With the Spurs sitting at 23-29 and currently outside of the Play-In picture in 12th place in the West, this injury feels even more devastating for a team hoping to make a late push. Here’s hoping for a full recovery and a strong return next season for Wemby.
