Looks like karma caught up with him. The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested Jiang Shan, the Chinese national who went viral for allegedly kicking a cat to death at Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati. But this time, it’s not just the internet after him—he’s now in custody for overstaying in the country.

BI intelligence officers nabbed Jiang, 32, right in front of his residence in Brgy. Palanan, Makati, after finding out he had overstayed his tourist visa. According to BI records, Jiang entered the Philippines in May 2023 but failed to extend his visa beyond September 2023. With no valid papers to present, authorities immediately took him into custody and transferred him to the BI facility in Bicutan, Taguig, where he now awaits deportation.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado didn’t hold back in his statement, saying, “Filipinos are known to be very hospitable to our guests. But guests should not come to our houses kicking our pets. His cruel action led to the BI conducting checks on his records, and now he’s detained to be deported.”

Jiang became infamous after brutally kicking a beloved community cat named “Ken,” who was peacefully resting on a walkway. The cat later died from its injuries. Witnesses at the time reported that Jiang was arrogant and refused to cooperate when confronted about the incident.

Now, with his immigration violations coming to light, it seems like justice—both for Ken and the community—is finally being served.
