VP Off The NSC? Here's What The Palace Has To Say

The Office of the Executive Secretary has clarified the reasoning behind Executive Order No. 81, s. 2024, which reorganizes and streamlines the membership of the National Security Council (NSC).

“EO 81, s. 2024 is issued to reorganize and streamline the membership of the NSC. At the moment, the VP is not considered relevant to the responsibilities of membership in the NSC,” said Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin in a statement.

This change has sparked conversations about the Vice President's role in national security affairs. However, the EO ensures flexibility, granting the President the authority to add members or advisers to the council should the need arise.

The move highlights the administration's focus on efficient governance while ensuring the President retains the ability to adjust the NSC lineup as circumstances evolve.
