VP Sara Duterte Slams Gov't For 'Surrendering' Former President Duterte to Foreign Powers

In a fiery statement, Vice President Sara Duterte blasted the government for what she calls an outright betrayal of the country’s sovereignty.

"Today, our own government has surrendered a Filipino citizen—even a former President at that—to foreign powers," Duterte declared. "This is a blatant affront to our sovereignty and an insult to every Filipino who believes in our nation’s independence."

The Vice President’s statement comes amid reports that former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was taken into custody earlier today and is allegedly being transported to The Hague. According to Duterte, her father has been denied his fundamental rights since being taken and has yet to be presented before a competent judicial authority.

"This is not justice—this is oppression and persecution," she emphasized.

Duterte further condemned the move, saying it sets a dangerous precedent and exposes the government’s willingness to "abandon its own citizen and betray the very essence of our sovereignty and national dignity."

As tensions rise over the former president’s fate, the Vice President closed her statement with a stark plea:

"God save the Philippines."
