Pope Francis, despite being in the hospital, made sure to send a message to the thousands of believers praying for his health. In a short but touching address, recorded in Spanish, the Pope expressed his deep gratitude.

"I thank you with all my heart for the prayers you offer for my health from [St. Peter’s] Square. I accompany you from here. May God bless you, and may the Virgin protect you. Thank you."

This message was played in St. Peter’s Square at the beginning of the Rosary prayer on Thursday evening at 9 p.m. Rome time. The Rosary was led by Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Pro-prefect of the Dicastery for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life.

A Wave of Prayers for the Pope

Since Monday, February 24, thousands of faithful, along with cardinals residing in Rome, members of the Roman Curia, and the Diocese of Rome, have been gathering in St. Peter’s Square to pray for Pope Francis.
