In a season full of heartbreaks, Ysa Jimenez proved that resilience pays off.

After struggling through 10 losses in 11 games, Galeries Tower could have easily crumbled under pressure. But when it mattered the most, Jimenez stepped up, leading the Highrisers to a stunning 25-17, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19 upset over the third-seeded Cignal HD Spikers last Thursday at the Philsports Arena.

And just like that, Galeries Tower secured its first-ever quarterfinals berth in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference—a moment that felt nothing short of destiny.

From Doubt to Triumph

Jimenez, who averaged only 10 points per game during the preliminary round, flipped the script with a game-high 23 points (22-of-55 attacking clip). She left it all on the floor, knowing the weight of the moment for her team.

“Worth it lahat ng pagod,” Jimenez shared. “Sobrang dami naming pinagdaanan to the point na kinekwestyon na rin namin, ‘Ano na bang nangyayari sa pinagpapaguran natin na ‘to?’”

But instead of giving in to doubt, the Highrisers embraced the challenge. “Sabi lang po sa amin ni coach na no pressure yung game na ‘to kasi wala namang mawawala. Confident kami kasi hindi kami nagkulang sa preparations.”

A Star is Born

Her breakout performance didn’t just push Galeries Tower to history—it also earned Jimenez the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week presented by Pilipinas Live (Feb 27 - Mar 1). She outshone big names like Petro Gazz’s Brooke Van Sickle, Creamline’s Bea De Leon, and Choco Mucho’s Sisi Rondina for the honor.

More than the stats, it was her heart and determination that turned the tide for the Highrisers.

Eyes on the Prize

Now in uncharted territory, Galeries Tower is gearing up for an intense best-of-three quarterfinals series against the winner of the Farm Fresh-Akari qualifying match. And head coach Lerma Giron made it clear—there’s no turning back now.

“Kailangan namin panindigan 'to. Alam namin 'yung pupuntahan namin sa next level, talagang very challenging. Hindi na pwede dito 'yung on-and-off,” Giron said. “Pero tiwala ako sa mga players na 'to.”

With a newfound confidence and a leader like Jimenez proving that “everything happens for a reason,” Galeries Tower isn’t just happy to be here. They’re ready to keep making history.
