Co’s announcement, shared on January 13, 2025, highlights the toll the demanding position has taken on his health, prompting him to seek necessary medical attention.

Expressing deep gratitude, Co thanked the majority in Congress for their support, acknowledging the immense honor it has been to steer the nation’s budget. His leadership saw the successful implementation of key programs like the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program, which provided much-needed financial relief to families with insufficient income. Co’s tenure also focused on securing funding for crucial initiatives in health, housing, and food security, aligning with the President's eight-point economic agenda.

In a social media post, Co reflected on his dedication to the role: “My decision to step down was not an easy one. I have poured my heart and soul into ensuring each centavo of the people's money was put to good use. The stresses and long hours have taken their toll, and I must now prioritize my health to better serve the people in the years ahead. Thank you, Speaker Martin, and my colleagues in Congress!
