Former Laguna governor ER Ejercito announced the passing of his beloved wife, Mayora Girlie “Maita” Javier-Ejercito, at the age of 55. Maita, who bravely battled endometrial cancer, passed away on November 3, 2024, at 12:01 AM at Saint Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City. Their family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers during this difficult time.

Maita was more than just a remarkable woman; she was a dedicated public servant who brought vitality and integrity to the town of Pagsanjan, Laguna. Serving as Mayor from 2010 to 2019 and later as Vice Mayor until 2022, her leadership transformed Pagsanjan into a recognized tourist capital. She was also honored to be the President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (Laguna Chapter) from 2010 to 2016. Her contributions to the community will always be remembered, as she poured her heart into every program and project she spearheaded.

Aside from her impressive political career, Mayora Maita was known for her work as an actress, with notable appearances alongside the King of Philippine Movies, Fernando Poe, Jr. She captivated audiences in films such as "Kahit Konting Pagtingin Part 2," "Hagedorn," and "Shake, Rattle and Roll EXTREME," which was her last film in 2023.

Gov. Ejercito expressed the family’s sorrow and the profound impact Maita had on their lives and the lives of many in their community. They have invited everyone to join them for a wake and daily Holy Mass at their ancestral home in Pagsanjan, starting at 7 PM from November 3 to 9.

As they navigate this painful loss, the Ejercito family requests prayers and Mass offerings for the repose of Mayora Maita’s soul. Her legacy of service, love, and unwavering spirit will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
