Looks like the Duterte legacy in Davao politics is far from over. Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II, grandson of former President Rodrigo Duterte, is ready to take on his own political path as he officially filed his certificate of candidacy for councilor of Davao City’s first district.

The young Duterte was accompanied by no less than his father, Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte, who turned up in full support for his son’s candidacy. This move adds another chapter to the Duterte family's long-standing influence in Davao City's political scene.

Interestingly, while Rigo has made his political aspirations clear, his father, Paolo, remains tight-lipped about his plans for the 2025 elections. Could it be that the spotlight is now shifting to the younger generation? Well, that’s definitely something worth keeping an eye on as election season heats up.

As for Rigo, stepping into the political arena means he’ll be carrying a lot more than just his name. Will he continue the legacy of his grandfather and father? Or will he carve out a new path for himself in Davao politics? One thing’s for sure—this is a story that’s just beginning to unfold.
