In a surprising turn of events, actress Rufa Mae Quinto is facing an arrest warrant in connection with a legal case involving Dermacare, the same company connected to the arrest of actress Neri Naig-Miranda. Rufa Mae is accused of 14 counts of violating the Securities and Regulations Code.

However, her legal team is quick to clarify that she is not facing a non-bailable case for large-scale estafa. Attorney Mary Louise Reyes, Rufa Mae’s lawyer, insists that the actress is also a victim in this situation.

“She will face those charges, including this one. Magvo-voluntary surrender siya and magpo-post kami ng bail,” the attorney shared. “She’s worried kasi hindi naman totoo 'yung allegations sa kanya. My client is just a brand ambassador, a model-endorser, and she’s also one of the victims.”

According to Atty. Reyes, Rufa Mae was hired as a model-endorser by Dermacare but was left unpaid for her services. Worse, the checks issued to her reportedly bounced.

“Hindi siya 'yung biktima nung pang-i-iscam, but she was a victim in the sense na hindi siya nabayaran. Hawak namin lahat ng ebidensya, and we will present this in court,” Reyes added.
For now, Rufa Mae’s priority is to post bail and clear her name.

Her legal team is also considering filing countercharges against those who dragged her into the controversy.
