SC Approves Transfer Of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy's Cases To Quezon City RTC
File
The Supreme Court's 2nd Division has granted the Department of Justice's (DOJ) request to relocate two criminal cases involving Pastor Apollo Quiboloy from a Davao Court to the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC).

The move comes amidst concerns over the cases' implications for public interest and potential witness intimidation due to Quiboloy's considerable influence in the region.

The SC, in its press statement, underscored the importance of ensuring a fair trial in cases of such magnitude, particularly under the purview of RA No. 7610, the Special Protection of Children against Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act. Noting Quiboloy's significant sway in the area, the Court acknowledged the potential for witness interference, thereby necessitating a transfer to a neutral jurisdiction.

As per the SC's directive, Branch 12 of the Davao RTC has been ordered to promptly forward all pertinent documents and records related to the cases to the Quezon City RTC within three days.
