Sen Bong Go Responds To Trillanes' Latest Plunder Complaint: 'Another Rehashed Accusation'

Senator Bong Go didn’t hold back, calling out former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s latest plunder complaint as nothing more than a recycled accusation. Trillanes has once again filed a complaint with the Department of Justice (DOJ), this time targeting Go, former President Rodrigo Duterte, and other ex-officials over the controversial P16 billion Philippine Navy Frigate Acquisition Project (FAP).

Go described the complaint as “another black propaganda” and a tactic by Trillanes to gain attention during the election season. "Wala nang bago, another rehashed accusation na paulit-ulit na lang ibinabato," Go said, suggesting that Trillanes is simply trying to make a name for himself and profit from these claims.

He pointed out that this issue was thoroughly investigated before. The Senate Committee on National Defense, led at the time by former Senator Gregorio Honasan, cleared the matter, finding no anomalies. Former Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and former Navy officials, including Vice Admiral Ronald Joseph Mercado and Rear Admiral Robert Empedrad, also confirmed that there was no interference or wrongdoing in the frigate acquisition process.

Go emphasized his commitment to focus on serving the public rather than engaging in what he views as Trillanes' futile attempts to undermine his reputation. “Mas nanaisin ko na tutukan ang trabaho ko at magserbisyo sa mga Pilipino,” he stated.

The Senator also hinted at a deeper issue, suggesting that the real problem might lie elsewhere, questioning whether Trillanes’ family has any government-related business that could be scrutinized. “Kung may dapat imbestigahan, hindi ba ang magulang mo ang may negosyo sa gobyerno at nagsusupply sa military?” Go asked.

Go concluded his remarks by affirming his readiness to address these accusations and calling on the public to see through what he describes as desperate and politically motivated attacks.
