Sen. Hontiveros Reveals Chinese National Arrested In Benguet Is A Fugitive

In a surprising turn of events, authorities recently raided a house at the Pinewoods Golf and Country Club in Tuba, Benguet. The house is allegedly linked to former Presidential Spokesman and lawyer Harry Roque.

During the operation, two Chinese nationals were found, adding another layer to the ongoing controversy surrounding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

Senator Risa Hontiveros shared that one of the Chinese nationals is a high-profile fugitive connected to the Bamban POGO operations. These revelations come at a time when the country is grappling with the fallout from the POGO industry, which has been under intense scrutiny for its alleged involvement in illegal activities.

During a Senate hearing, Atty. Roque denied ownership of the property, stating it belongs to a corporation whose mother company is Biancham Corporation.

Hontiveros however said that one of the stockholders of Biancham Corporation is AR Dela Serna, Roque’s former Executive Assistant. Additionally, Roque himself is listed as an incorporator of this corporation.

Despite President Marcos Jr.'s recent State of the Nation Address (SONA), where he announced a ban on all POGOs in the country, these operations continue to make headlines, raising questions about their lingering presence and influence.
