Senate Approves Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act On Second Reading

Senate Deputy Majority Leader Mark Villar successfully guided the approval of the proposed Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA) on its second reading.

As the chairperson of the Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions & Currencies, Villar highlighted that Senate Bill No. 2560 aims to penalize financial account scamming activities, including phishing, vishing, and smishing.

This legislation seeks to bolster the efforts of Philippine financial institutions in combating cybercrime schemes. The AFASA has been prioritized under the Common Legislative Agenda of the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (CLA-LEDAC).
