Senator Risa Hontiveros, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, has reaffirmed the committee's commitment to investigating allegations of abuse against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. The religious leader has adamantly refused to appear before the panel, prompting concerns over accountability.

During a press briefing on Monday, March 11, 2024, Senator Hontiveros said "Sinisigurado ko po sa inyo na ang trabaho ng komite, alang-alang sa mga babae at menor de edad na biktima at victim survivors ni Pastor Quiboloy, iyan ang lalong hindi pagsayang ng oras; iyan ang lalong hindi pagsuntok sa buwan."

The senator's statement comes amid growing controversy surrounding the KOJC leader and the allegations brought against him. Despite facing resistance from Quiboloy, Senator Hontiveros stressed that the committee's primary concern is the well-being of the victims, particularly women and minors who may have suffered abuse under the religious leader's authority.

Notably, the committee's chairperson acknowledged the differing opinions within the Senate regarding the contempt order proposed against Quiboloy. While some senators objected to the order, Senator Hontiveros maintained her commitment to the pursuit of truth and justice, assuring the public that the committee will not be deterred in its mission.
