Senator Win Gatchalian has called for an inquiry into the increasing number of foreign nationals residing in upscale gated communities suspected to be linked to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO), now known as Internet Gaming Licensees (IGLs).

Gatchalian, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, aims to address concerns raised by residents of Multinational Village in Paranaque City, where a surge in foreign nationals has been observed. Residents allege that a specific enclave within the subdivision caters exclusively to these individuals, hosting Chinese restaurants and spa salons.

Expressing alarm, Gatchalian emphasized the potential presence of fugitives from other countries in these subdivisions. He highlighted the organized nature of these syndicates and their connections, which could provide protection from high-ranking officials.

The senator referenced a November 2023 raid in Ayala Alabang Village, where 11 Chinese nationals were arrested for allegedly engaging in illegal online gambling activities. The raid uncovered firearms, including an unlicensed .45-caliber pistol and a switchblade knife, along with gambling paraphernalia.
