In a twist that’s straight out of a crime thriller, Shiela Guo, sister of suspended Mayor Alice Guo, has confirmed suspicions that the Guo siblings slipped out of the Philippines illegally.

During a Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights hearing on August 27, Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco revealed the details of Shiela’s confession. According to her, they dodged the usual immigration checks by sneaking away on a small boat from a resort up north.

They then hopped onto a bigger boat before making the final jump to Sabah on yet another small vessel. Talk about an ocean-bound adventure, but not the kind you’d want to be part of!

This revelation has further bolstered the BI’s theory that the Guo siblings made a run for it without going through the formal channels. Shiela, however, isn’t off the hook just yet. She’s facing a deportation case after being found with a valid Chinese passport under the name Zhang Mier. But she won’t be deported until she settles all the criminal cases against her here in the Philippines.

And what about Alice Guo? The authorities are keeping a close eye on her, thanks to a tight collaboration with their Indonesian counterparts. Tansingco is hopeful that Alice’s return to the Philippines will ensure that justice is fully served.
