SM Officials Visit VP, Discuss Education Initiatives

Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude as officials from SM Supermalls paid a visit to the Office of the Vice President. The visit aimed to discuss collaborative efforts in enhancing education and fostering opportunities for Filipino students.

During the meeting, SM Supermalls officials revealed their plan to launch a Super Spelling Bee, open to students from both public and private schools. The initiative seeks to reignite the youth's interest in proper spelling amid the digital age, emphasizing its significance in effective communication.

Part of the conversation involved exploring potential partnerships between the Department of Education and SM Supermalls. The idea is to provide K-12 students with opportunities for immersion and employment within SM Supermalls establishments. It was announced with that SM Supermalls welcomes K-12 graduates as employees. The Department of Education extended an invitation for SM Supermalls to participate in the ongoing review of the K-12 curriculum.

Vice President Duterte expressed her thanks to the SM Supermalls officials led by Miss Hannah Sy for their continuous support of Filipino students. She emphasized that their department remains open to collaborations aimed at improving and uplifting the quality of education in the country.

In closing, Vice President Duterte reiterated the commitment to building a nation that values the youth and stays true to the principles of being "Makabata at mga Batang Makabansa" (pro-children and pro-nation).
