On Saturday night, Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez conducted a thorough inspection of the newly established Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Lounge at Terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The OFW Lounge aims to provide a comfortable and exclusive space for overseas Filipino workers, departing from the traditional practice limited to business-class and first-class passengers.

The project is a collaborative effort involving key government agencies, including the House of Representatives, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA). It is an initiative of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to improve the welfare and experiences of overseas Filipino workers.

The OFW Lounge offers all OFWs, regardless of their ticket class, amenities previously reserved for premium-class travelers. Traditionally, such lounges are accessible only to those paying significantly higher fares.

Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Representative Wilter Y. Palma has introduced a bill to formalize the establishment of such lounges across key airports in the country.

During the inspection, Speaker Romualdez was accompanied by key figures instrumental in the project's realization, including OWWA Administrator Arnaldo "Arnell" A. Ignacio and OWWA Deputy Administrator Atty. Mary Melanie "Honey" Quiño.
