The recently inaugurated StBattalion (StB) Giga Factory in Capas, Tarlac, is set to become a game-changer for the Philippines’ renewable energy and electric vehicle industries. The facility, which will manufacture advanced iron phosphate batteries, is expected to generate around 2,500 jobs—ushering in new opportunities for local talent, from engineers and technicians to administrative personnel.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally led the inauguration of the PhP7-billion StB Giga Factory on Monday. He expressed his excitement and optimism for the project’s impact on the economy and the country’s shift toward sustainable energy solutions. “This is more than just a factory. It’s a leap toward a cleaner and greener ‘Bagong Pilipinas,’” the President said.

A Step Towards a Sustainable Future

The factory is a product of President Marcos’ efforts to bring in high-tech investments and develop renewable energy initiatives. During the Philippine Business Forum in Australia last March, the President secured pledges that have now turned into tangible results. The StB Giga Factory is the first-ever manufacturing plant in the Philippines dedicated to producing advanced iron phosphate batteries, which are often used in renewable energy systems and electric vehicles.

“Today’s inauguration is a testament to our country’s readiness to innovate, lead, and attract high-impact investments,” President Marcos declared. He emphasized that with this factory, the Philippines is signaling to the world that it’s prepared to be a key player in clean energy storage in Southeast Asia.

Local Job Creation and Economic Boost

Once the factory reaches its full capacity by 2030, it is expected to produce two gigawatt-hours of batteries annually, equivalent to powering around 18,000 electric vehicles or nearly half a million home battery systems. This will infuse approximately PhP5 billion into the local economy every year, further solidifying the country’s position as a promising hub for renewable energy investments.

“These are not just regular jobs. These are high-tech, quality jobs that provide opportunities right here on our own soil,” President Marcos shared.

A Bright Future Ahead

The President also encouraged more technology startups and industry players to consider the Philippines as their next investment destination. “If you’re wondering where to place your next big bet, look no further. The Philippines has the talent, the determination, and now, the infrastructure to make your boldest ideas a reality,” he said.

The StB Giga Factory, which will start commercial operations this October, is expected to pave the way for further developments in the electric vehicle and renewable energy sectors in the country. With its strategic partnerships and strong support from both the Philippine and Australian governments, the facility sets the stage for a future powered by clean and sustainable energy sources.

“So, to the entire team behind this incredible project, thank you for taking the leap of faith with the Philippines. You have laid the foundation for a brighter, greener, and more prosperous Bagong Pilipinas,” President Marcos concluded.

With this groundbreaking venture, the Philippines is now on the map as a destination for cutting-edge clean energy investments—a testament to what’s possible when public and private sectors work together for a common vision.
