Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) has left a trail of devastation across Luzon and parts of the Visayas, claiming seven lives and displacing thousands of families, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The latest report from the disaster response team confirms that six of the fatalities were from the Bicol region, with one from Calabarzon. Four individuals have also been injured, and the search continues for seven others reported missing—five from Bicol, one from Calabarzon, and one in the Ilocos region. The NDRRMC, however, notes that these figures are still being verified.

Kristine’s wrath didn’t stop there. An overwhelming 431,738 families—equivalent to over two million people—across several regions, including Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, and Bicol, have felt the storm’s impact. Many have sought shelter in evacuation centers, while others have been receiving aid outside.

Over 163,000 people are currently staying in nearly 4,600 evacuation centers, while around 32,000 more are being assisted outside these shelters. Kristine's impact has also disrupted port operations across nine regions, leaving nearly 6,000 passengers stranded.

The storm has also damaged over 1,000 homes across seven regions, leaving families to rebuild from the wreckage.

With thousands still displaced and the search for the missing ongoing, Kristine’s effects will be felt long after the storm passes.
