President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made it clear that the Philippines is eager to deepen its partnership with Japan. During a warm meeting with Motegi Toshimitsu, the secretary-general of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), at Malacañang, President Marcos emphasized the ongoing strength and potential of the two countries' relationship.

“We’re seeing a stronger bond between the Philippines and Japan than ever before,” President Marcos said, welcoming Motegi. “But there’s still so much more to do, and we’re looking forward to Japan’s continued support, especially from Prime Minister Kishida and the Japanese legislature.”

Motegi, who plays a key role in shaping Japan’s domestic and international policies, expressed his pleasure at returning to the Philippines. He highlighted the progress made in trilateral cooperation involving Japan, the U.S., and the Philippines, noting the steady development since the recent summit meetings.

The Japanese official also conveyed his condolences to the families affected by Typhoon Carina, showing solidarity during challenging times.

The Philippines and Japan recently marked 68 years of normalized relations and 12 years of their Strategic Partnership. President Marcos and Prime Minister Kishida have held several high-level meetings, including President Marcos’s visit to Japan last December and Kishida’s visit to Manila the previous November.

As both nations continue to build on their historical ties, the latest discussions signal an optimistic future for their bilateral cooperation.
