Suspended Mayor Alice Guo has submitted a letter to the Senate of the Philippines, addressed to Senator Risa Hontiveros, Chairperson of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations & Gender Equality, explaining her inability to attend the scheduled hearing on July 10, 2024.

In her letter, Mayor Guo cited ongoing physical and mental health issues as the primary reasons for her absence. She mentioned that her condition has deteriorated since the last hearing on June 26, 2024, which she also failed to attend. Despite seeking professional help, medical professionals have declined to issue a medical certificate due to fear of experiencing the same humiliation and ridicule that Guo is currently facing.

Guo highlighted the significant personal and professional challenges she has endured over the past months, including malicious accusations, ridicule, and multiple lawsuits that have taken a toll on her mental and physical well-being. She also expressed concern over constant death threats, which have contributed to her current state of fear and anxiety.

Mayor Guo expressed her sincere apologies for any inconvenience her absence may cause the Committee and reiterated that she holds no ill will or disrespect towards the Honorable Committee. She hopes her situation will be considered and thanked the Committee for their understanding.
