Screengrab from Phivocs
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) of Talisay, Batangas shared dramatic CCTV footage capturing the exact moment Taal Volcano released a steam-driven (phreatic) eruption early this Tuesday, December 3.

The eruption, which occurred at around 5:58 AM, lasted for approximately four minutes and produced an ash plume that reached up to 2,800 meters in height, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Residents were quick to notice the towering plume as it rose above the volcano, marking the event as a minor but visually striking reminder of Taal's activity. Authorities assured the public that no immediate evacuations were necessary but reminded everyone to stay alert and heed official advisories.

Local officials continue to monitor Taal’s activity closely, urging the community to remain cautious, especially those within high-risk areas. The footage shared by the Talisay MDRRMC serves as a stark reminder of Taal Volcano’s unpredictable nature and the importance of disaster preparedness.

Stay tuned for further updates from Phivolcs and local authorities.
