Here’s the latest on Tropical Storm “Enteng,” which continues to churn away in the waters east of Polillo Islands. As of the 11:00 AM update on September 2, 2024, “Enteng” is moving slowly north-northwestward and is currently centered about 115 km northeast of Infanta, Quezon, or 85 km east-southeast of Baler, Aurora.

What’s Happening?

“Enteng” is keeping its strength and has the potential to bring some significant weather changes to various regions. Here’s what you need to know:

Heavy Rainfall:

Expect heavy rains today through tomorrow (September 3) with up to 200 mm in some areas. This includes northern and central Quezon, Polillo Islands, Rizal, Laguna, Metro Manila, Cavite, Zambales, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, parts of Bulacan, Aurora, Isabela, Cagayan, and Benguet. If you're in these areas, stay alert for possible flooding and landslides, especially if you’re in elevated or mountainous regions.

Tomorrow, rain will be heavy in Ilocos Sur and Abra, with lesser amounts in other parts of the Ilocos Region and Benguet.

Wind Warnings:

Winds are expected to pick up, particularly in coastal and upland areas. Wind Signal No. 2 may be raised in some places, indicating minor to moderate impacts from strong winds. Be prepared for stronger gusts in coastal regions and elevated areas. The enhanced Southwest Monsoon will also bring strong to gale-force winds across various regions, including Metro Manila and parts of Visayas and Luzon.

Coastal Flooding:

There’s a minimal to moderate risk of storm surge in coastal areas like Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, and Camarines Norte. Keep an eye on local advisories if you live in these coastal communities.

Track and Intensity:

“Enteng” is expected to make landfall over Isabela or Cagayan later today, with northern Aurora also a possibility. By tomorrow morning, it should move northwest over Northern Luzon and enter the Luzon Strait by late morning. The storm is expected to intensify and could reach typhoon strength by Friday, September 6.

Stay tuned to local weather updates and be prepared for potential disruptions. Safety first, everyone!
